Col.1:16-18; and Hebrews 2:9-10. tell us that Jesus is the creator of all things! This is important because when referring to the Sabbath ,it is Jesus who created it!

The commandments,as we know, are listed in Lev 23. Now,in Matt 5:17-18 it tells us what Jesus didn't abolish!! And that was the LAW THAT HE CREATED! He, Himself kept the commandments : if He had not done so,THEN HE COULD NOT HAVE BEEN OUR SAVIOUR!

These scriptures are from the New Testament. So,these laws are still in force today.

In Matt 5:18 you will notice the word,"fulfill" : the meaning of that word is MAGNIFY!
Now,going on in verse 19 Jesus taught that whoever shall " practice and teach" them shall be called great in the kingdom of God.

Matt 19:17. Jesus taught the rich young man what he must do to "enter into life" and that was to keep, (the Greek word is poiew, which means to "practice" to do!)

The Apostles also taught in 1 John 3:22,24 that we should keep the commandments. When John wrote these words it was in the 90s AD!

In Acts 5:29,32 the disciples taught that we should keep and obey God rather than men. The scripture here is really powerful because the spirit of God is given to those who obey Him!

Matt 22:36-40. Jesus our Saviour taught that the whole law of God is the LOVE OF GOD.
When teaching a doctor of law who had asked,"Master, which is the great commandment in the law?" Notice which commandment Jesus  told the man that he should keep,"you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul. Then Jesus goes on to say, the second is like unto it,"You shall love your neighbour as yourself" On these two laws or commandments hang all the law and the Prophets! Jesus was a Prophet or I should say,THE PROPHET!

John 14:15-24. Jesus taught here that the one keeping His commandments is the one LOVING Him!

1 John 5:2-3. John writes here that when we keep the commandments we are showing that we are loving Him And that His commandments ARE NOT BURDENSOME or GRIEVOUS!

1 John 2:4-6. Those who claim to know the Lord and do not keep His commandments are liars! See also 1 John 3:19,22.
